Reservoir Dogs movie question?
Why is the movie reservoir dogs opening scene so iconic/legendary? I know it's got unique characters and great dialogue, but why do people consider it one of the best opening scenes of All Time?
I don't think of it as being one of the best opening scenes of all time, but it is really good. It's immediately entertaining and draws you into it faster than most movies do.
Without saying much directly about the characters, you immediately get a feel for what kind of men they are and what kind of relationship they have with one another. You know they're tough guys without a lot of regard for politically correctness. You know they don't know Each Other really well, and that there is still some tension between them as to who's in charge (after Joe).
Great opening scenes give you loads of information quickly without you even realizing it.
