Ecological atmosphere in Wetlands
Wetlands are an ideal place to support Biomes . The geography crammed with sufficient water and land masses leads to a cornucopia of all kinds of species to call it home. No other lake in Nepal is as well-known or as sacred as the Ghodaghodi Lake. Located in an exceedingly strategic position between the Terai and Siwalik Hills, it offers a unmitigated natural wildlife corridor for over tons of different sorts of animals and plants.
The value of the diversity found in the Ghodaghodi Lake is internationally accepted to be exceedingly significant. There are even 11 internationally threatened faunal species which have been recognised and listed in the IUCN Red List. Such rare faunal familythat take up residence in and around the lake are the highly endangered golden monitor lizard, the swamp crocodile, three-striped roofed turtle and the Asiatic rock python also call this place home.
It's not only reptiles and amphibians who reside here. A large number of tigers have also been spotted along the banks of the river. The tigers have been seen hunting and making their houses around this region. Ever since a big decline in their population was reported, the WWF has dedicated a huge effort in assisting the local government in their projects to bring the population count up again. There is also an effort to stop the illegal hunting and poaching of these magnificent creators that are so valued for not only their fur but also for certain body parts that have come to be linked with many medicinal properties.
Additionally, 34 mammal species, 29 fish species, and 140 migratory and resident bird species. Each one of them lend to a spectacular ecology that can only be supported and appreciated in the unique geography of the Ghodaghodi Lake. No other place within Nepal can boast of such great figures. Although now, it is unhappy to say that whether or not the diversity of the lake is large, the population of each has noticeably dropped together with the lake's ever decreasing size.
The Wetlands in the Ghodaghodi Lake also includes a wide selection of endangered plant species like certain Orchid species, the bladderwort and water primrose. The unique physical adaptation capabilities of these plants are best seen and most fitted within the environment of the lake. Species of lotus and rare wild rice is also influenced in some pieces of the lake. The endangered Orchid species are also of a particularly significant non secular importance, many of the area folk in and around the lake treasure the location as a religious site for their deities. These are but few examples of the native marine plants that make up the massive reach of plant life that may be found in the Ghodaghodi Lake. There are still another 388 species of vascular plants found here.
One of the major causes of the decline in the quantity of all the plant and animal species is necessarily the human factor. Folks have been the cause of declining numbers through their actions for a long while. The native folk look towards the lake for their source of water, food and resources. Their consumption without any discipline has left very little for the wildlife to flourish. The animals in swamps within the lake can assist itself if left alone. All of the animal and plant life coexist in perfect ecological equity. It is only when the most important threat to their existence, humans, over stay their welcome inside it. The Ghodaghodi Lake is one of the most key places left in Nepal to conserve life and diversity, as wetland chums we should ensure that the treasures within the lake and the lake itself aren't lost inside our generation.
