Can a religious high school deny a student from graduating if they fail all religion classes but pass the rest?
I'm curious about this topic. Religious high school are allowed to issue state diplomas. For the student to qualify they must meet the state requirements which do not require any religious classes. So if a student fails all the religious classes but passes all the science, math, etc with they still be awarded the state diploma by the religious high school and be allow to participate in the graduation ceremony?
Hmm, I don't know about state diplomas for private school students. But usually private schools have Their Own graduation requirements and at the local Catholic schools the religion credits are the same as the English credits which is higher than the math credits needed. At my son's non-religious private school, the graduation requirements are more rigorous than the state requirements. So I'm guessing, if you fail all religion classes and you need to pass them for graduation, too bad.
Why would you fail religion for 4 years anyway? Sounds silly. I know it might be difficult, lots of my son's friends from his private K - 8 ended up at Catholic school because the tuition is half (around $12,000 vs $25,000) of non-religious private school, and it's not as rigorous. They'd had enough at their very rigorous K - 8. But they're all a bunch of lil heathens so they have very little religious background or knowledge, so they're really having to study. But their finding it interesting, even though for most of them, they are not Catholic. My son's Atheist/Jewish and Muslim Friends Like the classes. But it's much easier for those who had been in Catholic school since K or attend church.
