Remembering The Birth Of Jesus

When you come across the word Christmas, what exactly comes to your mind?  I think most people would love to think of gifts, food, family and maybe anything that causes us to feel good.  Actually, that's what Christmas is really all about.  It ought to highlight the many wonderful Things That life brings.  No matter how big or small our income or savings might be, Christmas ought to be celebrated with joy and happiness.  It doesn't truly matter how much or how little we're sharing as long as we are sharing it heartily.  This is the true meaning of Christmas.

However, More Than the fancy gifts, personalized Christmas cards, delicious dinner or the seemingly endless merrymaking, I believe that we shouldn't forget why we celebrate Christmas.

Back when I was a lot younger, my mom and dad used to tell me stories regarding Jesus Christ.  I recall that the story of his birth or what many of us may know as the nativity was my personal favorite.  I think that it was actually the most amazing story regarding Jesus just before he was nailed on the cross.  That's because it is so humbling to learn that someone as great as him will be born with extreme simplicity.  Maybe, during that time, it was even a really inexpensive way to be delivered.

Today, pregnant women will carefully choose the medical center they're going to give birth and families would need to save lots of money for this occasion.  Before having a baby, pregnant women will have to purchase a lot of things for the unborn child and we now have the modern technology that allows us to take a glimpse of the way our unborn children look like.  I guess having a baby nowadays has become far too expensive.

During Jesus’ period, he was delivered in a manger.  A manger is actually a shelter created for animals.  Thus essentially, when Mary was getting labor pains, she was seeing farm animals.  And if ever baby Jesus could see, he might have first looked at farm animals aside from his father and mother.  There were no doctors and no nurses to help them.

I really hope that every time we celebrate Christmas or intend to send out a few business Christmas cards, we would at all times keep in mind the humility that God has taught us. And as much as we are able to, we ought to at all times keep ourselves humble and extend this humility to other people.  I hope that it doesn't just occur on the 25th of December but the entire year.  By doing this, we might have not been able to help Jesus at the time of his delivery but we'll surely have lived according to the lessons and ideals that He has told us.
