Vinyl Records-A Classic Experience
To some collectors anything classic is best described as something that is antique. Just being an LP could be enough for any record to be classified as classic vinyl because this method of prerecorded music is no longer in current production. Thanks to progress in technology, all of our songs are digitally manufactured. However, before there was a CD or MP3 there was vinyl. It was Frank Sinatra who blazed a trail of top selling albums long before today’s pop stars. Being a genuine music collector means you’ve found some Frank Sinatra vinyl.
It’s hard to imagine what kind of impact a singer can have before the age of MTV or YouTube.
It didn’t take much for Sinatra to generate exhilaration. Lines of fanatic female fans called “bobby-soxers” swooned at his every song. In the classic age of radio, Sinatra was one of the most regular performers.
Towards the end of the 40’s, some of the luster on Frank’s career began to fade, but he came back with a vengeance thanks to a star role in the movies that had nothing to do with singing. After an intense lobbying campaign, Frank was hired to play a supporting part in From Here to Eternity. His hard work were paid off with an Oscar and new vitality for his career.
In the early 50’s, Frank began his collaboration with Capitol Records which generated a terrific volume of classic vinyl. Frank got help from top notch industry arrangers Nelson Riddle, Gordon Jenkins and Billy May.
Among the popular albums in this Frank Sinatra vinyl compilation are Swing Easy (1954), In the Wee Small Hours (1955), Songs For Swingin’ Lovers (1956) and the very popular Come Fly With Me (1957). All of these albums were chart-topping successes for Sinatra.
After the achievements of his work at Capitol Records, Frank decided to form Reprise Records as his own company. His first effort, Ring-A-Ding-Ding (1961), was an instant classic. It was during the Reprise years that Frank formed the Rat Pack. Along with Frank there was Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop and Peter Lawford. The Rat Pack played to packed theatres in Vegas, Chicago and New York. These live shows were recorded for all to enjoy. Pretty much anything with the Rat Pack is considered a very cool collectible.
There are very few recording stars who can make the declaration of having victories in several decades from Billboard album sales, to television specials to Feature Film box office champs.
Fans of popular music understand that Frank Sinatra is one of those unique performers.
