Beatles Vinyl Provides Music Lovers Something To Sing About
Revolutions are rare to find in any industry. Typically there is a leader who collapses barriers and opens the door for others to use. The biggest advances in the music industry came from these revolutions. Frank Sinatra begat Elvis Presley who begat the Beatles and music was permanently transformed. Their first record company, Capitol Records, got them off the ground but also provided a lackluster starting point for market penetration in the United States. If not for the commitment of the Beatles’ European fans there might not have ever been a “British Invasion".
Back in the early 60’s, the lads from Liverpool started their careers as most musicians did (and still do): they toured around in small clubs accumulating a fan base hoping for a record company to notice them. It was London based EMI that took notice and signed the boys to an exclusive recording agreement. This made it feasible for them to cut their first Beatles vinyl record via a major label. Once the American branch of EMI, Capitol Records, got a hold of the recordings, they were not pleased with the music or their looks. Elvis's hip swinging made some labels nervous to release material that may have been deemed improper. The Beatles didn't need any more unfavorable press, but soon after CBS News helped make a huge impact.
In 1963 a story was published that gained massive popularity, and as a result Capitol Records released the Beatles first song to America. The single went right to number one right after the article was released. Their first tour in the U.S. started a couple of months later at the beginning of 1964. By that juncture “I Want to Hold Your Hand” had already distributed over two million records. They were already massively popular throughout the United States when they landed their first show on the Ed Sullivan Show.
Flash ahead to today’s music lovers and many will discover that the Beatles vinyl recordings are some of the most desired items in the vinyl record hobbyist’s world. Just because albums are classics does not necessarily mean they need to be played on classic turntables, because many newer systems offer sonic quality light years beyond what classic systems can offer. London, the place that the Beatles call home, is where high-quality Rega turntables are produced. The newest generation of Rega turntables has the backing of the best sound engineers in the industry. Rega cuts most of the extras seen on many turntables in order to concentrate on quality of parts and sound reproduction.
Rega turntables and Beatles vinyl, although from different eras, is definitely an incredible combination that must be heard to be believed!
