How do you put back an action slide on a Remington 870 express?
I was cleaning it today and when the barrel was off and after I was done cleaning the chamber I pulled the action slide so the chamber would close but obviously I screwed up and the action slide and bolt fell out. I put the bolt back in but the slide assembly won't go into the chamber area.
I assume it is the same as a Wingmaster. Hold the magazine tube horizontal. Put the slide on the magazine tube next to the receiver. Sit the bolt assembly on the rails on the slide in the correct position. Reach up through the bottom of the receiver with your two index fingers and pull left and right on the spring loaded strips in the receiver. While holding the strips out, push the bolt/slide components back into the receiver.
