Gwyneth Paltrow, such a fan of tea that she reportedly offered to make the beverage for the performers at the Live 8 concert, recently told America’s People Magazine, “Drink green tea. Do it instead of snacking!”

Gwyneth has said that to be more healthy, we should try to increase our water intake, as well as our levels of dietary antioxidants. “I try to eat as organically as possible, and try not to eat anything 'toxic' that will drain my energy," she says.

Green tea extract intake is associated with increased weight loss

Scientists at the South China Institute of Botany China published a study in the scientific Journal of Medicinal Food on the benefits of metabolic substances called ‘catechins’, found in tea. They found that green tea extract intake is associated with increased weight loss, due to assisting the body to burn off excess food.

Green tea has been proposed as a strategy for weight loss and weight maintenance, as along with other substances, it may increase energy expenditure. Researchers also stated that positive effects on body-weight management have been shown using green tea mixtures, and that tea catechins have anti-angiogenic properties that may prevent development
of obesity.
