Vhs Must

I bought a VHS-DVD recorder. I record a DVD, but I cannot watch it in another DVD player, or in Laptop. Why?

I bought a FUNAI VHS-DVD Recorder. AND tried to record from the tape to a DVD. Although I must have done something wrong, because after I finish, the DVD is not playable in my laptop or another DVD Player. Do you have any idea what shall I do? Do I have to format it before or after? It is compatible only with DVD-R DVD-RW. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

You have to go into the menu(on mine it's the guider) and finalize the dvd when You Are done recording.
