My club wants to have a public showing of stand-up comedy videos. Do I need to pay for the rights to do this?
I know movie rights can cost hundreds of dollars if you advertise it and show it in a non-residence. Could I advertise and show stand-up?
It depends if you're going to charge admission.
EDIT: if not charging you should be ok
The reason the movie makers have those FBI warnings is because they have a right to a cut of the proceeds. And a lot of other legal reasons. But mainly the reason is you, or your organization are not allowed to make money just for yourself and not them.
